Colorado Bend I Power Funds State-of-the-Art Ticket Scanners

Local power generation facility Colorado Bend I Power, LLC has presented a check for $2,200 to The Plaza Theatre be used to complete the implementation of a new ticket scanning system.

The Plaza Theatre was recently forced into a new ticketing platform when their existing vendor experienced a company buy-out.

This software migration required The Plaza Theatre to purchase a new computer, ticket printer, credit card scanner and other supplies – all of which were unexpected expenses excluded from their annual budget.

The final piece of this system migration was the purchase of two handheld ticket scanners to replace the 10-year-old units currently in use.

“We were experiencing long lines of frustrated patrons entering the theatre because of the antiquated equipment,” said Plaza Theatre VP of Communications Russell Kacer.

“This donation will cover the cost of two new scanners, the support/maintenance of the equipment, and the charging cables for the scanners.”

Operations Manager Derek Fischer and Office Manager Amanda Honey of Colorado Bend I Power met with Plaza Theatre board members and staff recently to present the check and share some words about how much their organization enjoys supporting the community.

“We were happy to provide a contribution to the Plaza to help keep things going,” said Operations Manager Derek Fischer. “It’s a local community thing – we like to keep our business local as well… we want to see Wharton grow, and we want to contribute to that.”

The Plaza Theatre, like so many other organizations, was hit hard by COVID-19. The donation came at a crucial time, just ahead of the 2021-2022 season of shows.
