On Sunday, Feb 21, Eric Dupree Perry Jr., 25, of El Campo, was arrested in connection with the McGrew Street shooting that occurred two days prior.
The El Campo Police Department responded to calls reporting gunshots near or on McGrew Street in El Campo on Friday, Feb. 19.
Upon arrival, ECPD received a call from the El Campo Memorial Hospital Emergency Room (ECMH), notifying officers of two gunshot victims.
Perry allegedly fired multiple shots at a white sedan parked at a residence on McGrew Street.
The male driver and pregnant female passenger of the sedan drove themselves to the ER after sustaining multiple gunshot wounds from the incident.
The male victim was treated and observed at the El Campo hospital and the female victim, along with her unborn child, were airlifted to Children’s Memorial Hermann in Houston.
She underwent an over 9-hour surgery and delivered her child.
It is reported by the victim’s families that both, mother and baby are stable and remain under medical supervision and treatment at Memorial Hermann.
Perry was charged with six counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and two warrants for abandon/endanger of a child imminent danger bodily injury.
He remains in custody at the Wharton County jail and bond amounts for all charges total $50,000.
