District Attorney’s office to apply for victim assistance coordinator, East Bernard requests full-time deputy constable

The Wharton County Commissioners Court will convene at 9:30 a.m. on Monday to provide update and take all appropriate action on COVID-19 related issues, as well as consider approval on the following agenda items:

  • Take all appropriate action regarding Families First Coronavirus Response Act (FFCRA) that expired Dec. 31, 2020.
  • Take all appropriate action for District Attorney’s office to apply for Victim Assistsnve Coordinator grant through the Texas Governor’s office.
  • Take all appropriate action to approve Marcus Tijerina as full-time Deputy Constable for the City of East Bernard.
  • Take all appropriate action to purchase 2022 Chevrolet 3/4 ton pickup truck from Caldwell Country for approximately $34,000 with funds from Special Road and Road & Bridge Fund Pct. 1 — Vehicles (020.612.512).

Consent Agenda Items 6-15

  • Take all appropriate action to accept donation of $300 to DARE Program from B & S Services.
  • Take all appropriate action to approve Federal Excise Gas Exemption Certificate — State of Local Government Certificate of Ultimate Purchaser.
  • Take all appropriate action to reappoint Phillip Spenrath as Representative, General Assembly and Delegate Board of Directors for Houston-Galveston Area Council (H-GAC ) and Richard Zahn as alternate.
  • Take all appropriate action to submit Treasurer’s 4th Quarter 2020 Investment Report.
  • Take all appropriate action to approve budget adjustments and amendments as presented and amended.
  • Take all appropriate action to ratify Jan. 22, 2021 payroll in the amount of $290,955.80 applicable benefits in the amount of $543,967.10 and time sensitive invoiced for $121,814.13.
  • Take all appropriate action to authorize County Treasurer and County Auditor to pay and release time sensitive invoices as presented and amended, cash payments to jurors and payroll and applicable benefits for Feb. 5, 2021 to be ratified by commissioners court Feb. 8, 2021.
  • Approve Nov. 16, 2020 Special Session Minutes.
  • Approve Dec. 14, 2020 Minutes.
  • Accept Monthly Reports-County Clerk-December; Child Support-December; Veteran Services-December; Constable PCT 1 & 4-December; Constable 4-2020 Year End Report; Justice of Peace PCT 4-December; Indigent Health Care-December; Extension Services-C. Bowen-December; and Library-December.
  • Permits.
  • Pay claims.
  • Take all appropriate action regarding appointment of Maintenance Supervisor.
  • Meet in Closed Session to deliberate the following matters as authorized by the Texas Government Code:
    • 551.074 – Personnel Matters: Commissioners Court will meet in Closed Session to deliberate regarding personnel matters.
  • Reconvene Open Session and consider taking action on the following matters:
    • 551.074 – Personnel Matters. Appointment of Maintenance Supervisor.
  • Meet in Closed Session to deliberate the following matters authorized by the Texas Government Code:
    • 551.073 – Deliberation Regarding Real Property. Commissioners Court will meet in Closed Session to deliberate regarding negotiations for the purchase of land in Precinct 3.
  • Reconvene Open Session and consider taking action on the following matters:
    • 551.073 – Deliberation regarding the purchase of land in Precinct 3.
