The Wharton Chamber of Commerce and Agriculture will hold its 40th Annual Christmas Holiday Parade on Tuesday, Nov. 24 on Wharton’s historic downtown square.
Returning as grand marshal is Jeff Rainer. He, along with assistant parade marshal Logan Giesie and committee members have chosen “Christmas at the Movies” as this year’s theme.
Festivities will begin at 6 p.m. with food trucks and vendors along the Northside of the Wharton County Courthouse.
Parade marshal Sherrell Speer will kickoff the parade promptly at 7 p.m. and announce parade entries throughout the evening as each entry approaches the main stage.
Entries will be judged per category: vehicle; noncommercial float; commercial float; and marching and equestrian. First-place prizes will be awarded at the end of the night.
City, county, fire department and air forces categories are allowed to participate, but will not be eligible for prizes.
According to the Wharton Chamber website: all entries must include lights; if music is to be played, it must be Christmas music; and no live santas shall be included on entry.
Those wishing to participate in the parade must submit their entry to the chamber by 4 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 20.
